Erin Flynn

Erin Flynn is a nationally recognized independent consultant with15 years experience in state and regional economic, workforce and civic development.  Her areas of expertise include market-based and business-led development strategies, strategic planning for national, state and regional development organizations, policy analysis and evaluation research.

Most recently, Ms. Flynn was Vice President of FutureWorks where she built and led the firm’s consulting practice in regional economic development.  In this capacity, Ms. Flynn led the creation of strategic regional growth plans in the Greater Wasatch Area (Salt Lake City) and the Greater Boston Metropolitan Area.  She also served as a consultant to a business-led Regional Plan for the Portland-Vancouver, OR Metropolitan Area.  In addition, Ms. Flynn managed major national economic development initiatives.  From 2001-2005, she designed and directed MetroBusinessNet – a multi-year network of metropolitan business leadership groups working to develop “win-win” business practices and public policies that reduce social and economic disparity while improving the business operating environment.  Network members included the Bay Area Council, Chicago Metropolis 2020, the St. Louis Regional Chamber, the Greater Washington Board of Trade and the Austin Area Research Organization.    Currently, Ms. Flynn is completing a multi-year effort to produce a Practitioners’ Handbook for Regional Double Bottom Line Investing.  The Handbook seeks to mainstream the emerging field of private equity investing in urban core markets through a first-ever documentation of theory and practice.

Ms. Flynn is a frequent speaker and workshop leader at regional retreats, civic forums and national conferences addressing public-private partnerships for sustainable and equitable economic growth.  Her clients include national and community foundations, public and private, non-profit workforce and economic development agencies, chambers of commerce and regional planning councils.
