creative economy

Mt. Auburn Associates has deep experience in helping communities develop visionary, comprehensive, and integrated strategies to further promote and develop the arts and cultural cluster.  The firm has been involved in numerous efforts that seek to define the cluster, to quantify its importance, to facilitate and engage artists and businesses within the cluster, and to develop economic development and workforce strategies focused on the cluster.

small cities

Over the past 20 years, Mt. Auburn Associates has worked with about 25 smaller cities on the design and implementation of strategic economic development plans.  While we have also worked in inner-city neighborhoods of larger cities as well as in very rural regions, the focus of our work has been in smaller industrial cities with a rich manufacturing past.  These cities include Springfield, Fitchburg and Fall River, in Massachusetts; Nashua, New Hampshire; New Haven, New London, Waterbury, and Hartford in Connecticut; Kingston and Glens Falls in New York; Waterville and Lewiston in Maine; and St. Joseph and Cape Girardeau in Missouri.

higher education

Through our years of experience as economic development practitioners, Mt. Auburn Associates has developed a deep respect for the impact higher education institutions can have on regional economic competitiveness.  For both higher education institutions and the region to reap the maximum benefits of their symbiotic relationship, they must develop a joint understanding of the existing economic contributions of the institution to the region’s economic competitiveness and together develop strategies to deepen the linkages between the institution and the region.
